Summer Plans

I know, it has been a bit of a while since my last entry, but it is because I usually only post something when there is some sort of accomplishment. However, I have been going through a period of evolution these past few weeks and have really been learning as much as I can about the business.

This saturday will be my last meeting for the On-camera acting course at Weist Barron and I just have to say how grateful I am for being given the chance to take this class free of charge. Winning the 2nd place prize of a free on-camera class after auditioning for the Weist Barron school was one of the greatest events to have happened to me in 2010. I thank director Valerie Adami for her kind words, her guidance/advice and her belief in me.

Taking this class has made me excited about taking other classes, really educating myself on movies and plays, and networking.

My goal for this summer is to sign up for intensives/seminars/classes at Actor's Connection with CDs casting in NY for television an Film. I strongly believe good things will come from that after I take my new and first professionally done headshots with imageworksNYC. I will also take dance classes at BDC to get back into the dancing groove. Auditions will be a must and I hope to submit to some print agencies to start going on go-sees.

All in all, I am very excited because at least, at this moment, I am SAG-eligible and can join whenever I am ready.

Before I go just want to give a shout out to my supervisors at Oxygen. I have had such a wonderful time over my spring 2011 semester. I have met some really cool individuals within this company and made some great friends. I wish everyone well and look forward to being in touch in the future.

PS: I also recently recorded the original cast recording for "Most Likely To: The Senior Superlative Musical" - loved being in the studio! I will update you all on that soon

A Musical Month!

It is only February, the second month of 2011, and I am already beginning it with a BANG!

So far my internship at Oxygen Media has been great. My internship coordinators are amazing and I really feel as if I am part of the staff there. This past Friday they held a Glee karaoke in celebration of "the Glee Project" going on air!

This past Friday I was part of a backup trio performing for musician Mike Del Rio at the Bowery Ballroom! It was a sold out crowd and I have to say that I had the best time. So awesome to get a glimpse into the lives of musicians performing at venues. The greenroom was cool and so was the venue in general. Check out Mike' music at http://www.mikedelrio.com/fr_home.cfm

Also! I have been asked to play the male role in singer/songwriter Jessica Ashley's upcoming Music Video for her next single "If You're Out There" - production is scheduled to take place later this month. I am honored to be working with her again. It has been a while, but our chemistry is incredible! Follow her on twitter @xoJessicaAshley and check out her official site at http://www.jessicaashleymusic.com/

Beginning February 26th I will be taking an introduction to acting technique course at the midtown acting school Weist-Barron. Looking forward to that as well! 2011 is going to be a BIG YEAR!

NEWS!

I am just here real quickly (in between studying for a math exam and getting ready for bed) to post that I had such a great time today filming the short "Mad Dash" by Chantalle Jean-Philippe & Michael Mooney. I played the role of Barry and had an awesome experience shooting from 8 in the morning until about 4pm.

We were all troopers; persevering the low temperature and interruptions by groups of church-goers, children, and elderly folk. I look forward to sitting down with the cast to view the raw screening sometime in December. Can't wait to add this to my reel!

ALSO! I have been asked to shoot for a print campaign, a follow up shoot for the HIV PSA I shot this past 2010 summer through DCF advertising. That adds a print credit!

So far so good. I look forward to many more successes.

Two short films in 1 month!

Hey Everyone!
So I realize it has been a little while since I last posted, but I have been super busy at Hunter College and my internship @ InTheMo (a smaller media production company that has a "Best of"/Video recommendations based website) Check it out @ inthemo.com!

So aside from my busy lifestyle, I managed to move my schedule around to make room for personal purpose fulfilling projects. This past month in October I received an email from a student at NYU and she asked me to be in her black and white silent film! Filming has been wrapped for a little while, but I am so excited to see the finished product at the end of this semester. She said she received great feedback and that audience members were impressed with my performance. Someone even asked for my contact info. Making connections!

So why stop there!? I decided to audition for a Hunter film that I saw posted. It was the only casting going on and I was determined to get the role. The day of the audition I skip the beginning of my class to be able to make an appearance and I read incredibly well. I was genuine, comfortable, and had a great time. Days later I was told I had received my first LEAD role in a short film as "Barry" in Mad Dash. We will be filming the week of November 8th and that will certainly add to my reel! Keep the momentum!

Being in NYC has certainly opened up a world of opportunity. Every day is filled with possibility.

PS: I also got an internship lined up at OXYGEN Media for the spring semester! YAY! Lots of good things:)
